Today, GSGroup has published the new version 2.0.0.45 of the Handyman Field Service Management Extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central with lots of new features to improve service management and usability.

Re-design of service item export

  • Some customers using large numbers of service items have reported performance problems related to service items / Handyman equipment. At the same time it was difficult to maintain service items in BC and Handyman on the same level.
  • The current re-design addresses both issues. Export of service items follows now the same logic applied for the export of other types of basic data: The individual record has the settings „Export to Handyman“ and „Exported to Handyman“. Only new/changed service items are exported.
  • The re-design also allows easier customization of the export of service items.

Other new features

  • New field Date (Handyman) in sales order lines. This field allows to track when the item has been recorded by the field service technician in Handyman Mobile. The same field exists in service lines.
  • Sales and service invoice inherit now the field „Estimated hours“ from the order. Handyman has already a powerful logic to assign estimates to orders automatically. The new function allows KPI-based reporting in BC comparing estimated effort with actual time spent. Service managers can manage the performance of their teams much easier using this metric.
  • New option to use the customer’s standard delivery address for created sales orders instead of the workplace imported from Handyman.
  • Multi-language export of item translations. New settings allow to show items descriptions in Handyman in a specific language using BC item translations. These settings apply to the personal (vehicle) store of the service technician and the customer the order is referring to.

Usability improvements and bugfixes:

  • Improved messages shown when processing Handyman-orders in Business Central.
  • Improved error handling in create and update service orders related to Handyman orders using service items that were not found in Business Central.
  • Fixed issue related to special characters in work description of sales orders that could occur when creating new sales orders based on orders created in the field.
  • The field GSG_ItemUsedStatus in sales and service lines is now set using Validate so that external apps can use OnValidate to respond to changes to this field.
  • Improved stability of the integrations in cases where communication with Handyman result in an error.
  • Disabled the checkmark „Order updated“ in inbound order card. This is to avoid that user set this accidentally resulting in unwanted inconsistency of Handyman and BC-orders.
