Business Central Interface Version 2.0.0.63

We’re back from our Christmas vacation and have a new release with many new features for the Handyman Field Service Management Extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. This release offers a comprehensive re-design of the store movement export, new features for projects, sales orders and serivce orders in addition to a large number of small improvements.

Redesign of store movement export

  • We have identified and fixed an issue in the export of store movements from BC to Handyman. This has been fixed for the Export Store Movement type „Manual“ and „Job Queue“. Given the nature of the issue, the automatic export of store movements is discontinued with this version as it cannot guarantee 100% correct export of store movements. We strongly recommend switching to the export type manual or job queue: Go to Handyman Settings page and change Export Store Movement type accordingly. Use Projects with Service Items / Handyman equipment

  • In Business Central, Projects cannot use serivce items.
  • In a field-serivce operation however it is quite common that mobile field service technicians work on a BC Project where particular equipment should be installed or maintained.
  • In Handyman, linking an order to an equipment is easily possible. In this release this functionality is used to link BC projects with serivce items via Handyman: Upon initial export of the project, the user can select one of the order types supporting use of equipment (installation, service, repair). In Handyman (Office or Mobile) the user can link an equipment (corresponding to a BC service item) to the Handyman order. After import into BC, the BC Project refers to the BC service item selected in Handyman.

Improvements and fixes

  • Improvements in processing inbound orders from Handyman:
    • The contract report can now be opened directly from the inbound order card. This makes it easier to check pricing rules defined in Handyman when processing orders in BC.
    • The field inbound order description-text is extended to the maximum value allowed in BC so that the full text from Handyman can be shown.
    • Inbound order summary has a new column to show sum of hours. 
  • Exporting serivce orders
    • There is an additional field „Contact-Comment“ for the ship-to-contact. This field  is matching with the contact comment in Handyman.
    • Order Type is only set upon first export – avoiding the risk to overwrite the value set in Handyman.
    • When creating a service order for a new service item that has not been exported to Handyman before, the service item is exported now correctly as new equipment to Handyman. 
  • Exporting Resources:
    •  New field „E-Mail-Address“ for resources. This E-Mail address can be used for the new, advanced authentication in Handyman that requires an e-mail address per user. Currently advanced authentication is optional, but will become mandatory in the future. You should make sure all Handyman users have a unique e-mail address.
    • Export resources from the resource list filters now correctly on non-exported entries.
  • Service Orders / Sales Orders / Projects:
    • Fixed a problem related to the export of copied sales and service order lines. Copied lines does not copy the Handyman line number and the Handyman item used status so that the copied lines can be processed in Handyman later. 
    • Handyman order status is now reset to „Exported“ if all participants have been removed from a previously planned order.
