Business Central Interface Version 2.0.0.68

This release of the Handyman Field Service Management Extension for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central marks the start of a new era. It enables the use of Handyman API. This allows data exchange with Handyman at a whole new level.

Why Handyman API?

  • Handyman API is a more modern way to integrate than the technology used so far (API Connect).
  • It offers a wider ange of advantages:
    • Real-time data exchange: Data is sent and received in real time, with no waiting time or delays.
    • Immediate feedback: Right after sending data to Handyman, BC receives confirmation that it has been received successfully. This confirmation may also contain additional information for processing in BC, e.g. the Handyman ID of the created record.
    • Granular data exchange: Instead of sending a complete records, individual fields can be updated.
    • Performance: The Handyman API is faster and more efficient than API Connect.
  • To make use of Handyman API, contact Handyman support to get the access credentials and add them to the Handyman settings page.

Use of Handyman API in this release

  • This release ships a framework for using Handyman API in the extension. This provides the basis for implementing functionality using Handyman API – with the standard extension or in individual custom extensions.
  • As a first application, this release contains the functionality to add material lines to an inbound order record. When checking an order in inbound order card, missing items can be added right away. Previously this was only possible by adding the item in Handyman and exporting the order again or by adding the item later in BC to the order/project.

Additional improvements and corrections

  • New integration event to customize the behavior of re-export via a custom extensions.
  • Smaller bugfixes and corrections of labels.
